CHRISTMAS TREES

Christmas TreesWe are primarily choose and cut Christmas tree farms, but Isanti Pinestead also has a selection of fresh (cut as needed) pre-cut trees displayed in a lighted area-great for tree shopping in dress clothes after work or church!

Isanti Pinestead: Open until 8:00pm on weeknights so you can select your fresh pre-cut tree after work-and enjoy our 10,000+ lights. Actually quite a number of people bring a flashlight and held for the fields. The stars are brilliant once away from the city lights and usually there is no wind chill at night.

Isanti Pinestead offers:

Fraser Fir to 9 ft.
Balsam Fir to 10 ft.
Colorado Blue Spruce to 9 ft.
White Spruce to 10 ft.
White Pine to 9 ft.
Norway Pine to 9 ft.
Scotch Pine to 9 ft.

There is a good selection all the way up to these sizes and generally a few larger ones as well.

A nine foot Fraser Fir was selected as Grand Champion at the 2006 Minnesota State Fair. It came out of the Isanti Pinestead Fraser Fir choose and cut field—and there are still many more Grand Champion quality trees out there!

East Bethel Pinestead offers:

Balsam Fir to 8 ft.
Fraser Fir to 7ft.

We have tree shakers and balers at both locations and Isanti Pinestead has a tree drilling machine. We also provide saws and twine. We are full service.

We will load and tie the tree onto your vehicle.

In general, the pines have the best needle retention, followed by the Firs, and then the Spruces. However, watering frequency, plus heat and humidity conditions within the home, are far more important then the type of tree. See Christmas Tree Care.

Fraser Fir
A North Carolina tree with varieties now hardy enough for Minnesota. Less fragrant than a Balsam, but with stiffer branches which hold heavier ornaments. Good (3-4 weeks) needle retention. Short (about 1”) deep green needles with beautiful silver undertone-- often referred to as the Cadillac of Christmas trees. Growing time: 10+ years.

Fraser Fir

Balsam Fir
A Minnesota native with the traditional look. Most fragrant of all trees, with short (about 1”) flat needles. Best (4-5 weeks) needle retention of the short needled trees. Soft to the touch and sturdy enough for medium weight ornaments. Growing time: 9+ years.

Balsam Fir

Blue Spruce
Colorado Blue Spruce actually range from blue-green to all green. Short (about 1”) needles are stiff and pointed (kids and pets leave them alone) with layered branching pattern. Stiff branches hold even the heaviest of ornaments. Expect about 3-4 weeks needle retention. Growing time: 10+ years.

Blue Spruce

White Spruce
Have an “old fashioned” look. Very short (about ½”) needles, but very dense and symmetrical. Generally considered a 2-3 week tree, but if fresh cut and watered, it will go from early December through year-end. Often will tend to start budding out; adding colorful light green shoots as natural ornaments. Growing time: 10+ years.

White Spruce

White Pine
Once was considered the pride of Minnesota’s forests. It is often called the lady of the Pines. Long (3-4”) needles in clusters of five are very graceful and soft with very good retention (4-6 weeks). Best decorated with bows, ribbons, and light weight ornaments. Growing time: 8+ years.

White Pine

Scotch Pine
Most popular of the pines. Medium (2-3”) bushy needles have excellent needle retention. You can expect 4-6 weeks with proper care. Growing time 7+ years.

Scotch Pine

Norway Pine
Minnesota State Tree, also referred to as Red Pine. Long (4-6”) needles with excellent retention. Will last 5-6 weeks with proper care. Growing time: 8+ years.

Norway Pine
